From a Village School in Bihar to Boston University: A Journey Fueled by Purpose
There are moments in life that remind us how far determination can carry a person.
Standing in my doctoral regalia at Boston University, surrounded by fellow graduates from across the world, I could not help but think back to a small elementary school in a village in Bihar, India.
The distance between those two places is measured not just in miles, but in perseverance, sacrifice, hope, and an unwavering belief that education has the power to transform lives.
Humble Beginnings in Rural Bihar
My journey did not begin in prestigious classrooms or with abundant resources.
It began in a modest village where opportunities were limited, but dreams were limitless.
Like many children growing up in rural India, I studied in simple classrooms, often with minimal facilities. Yet, my teachers instilled something far more valuable than modern infrastructure.
They nurtured curiosity, discipline, and the belief that hard work could change one’s destiny.
Education as a Pathway to Possibility
As I grew older, I realized that education was more than earning degrees.
It was a passport to understanding the world, serving others, and creating opportunities where none seemed to exist.
