Some of life’s most meaningful conversations happen when you least expect them.
While traveling in business class from Amsterdam to Delhi in 2014, I found myself seated next to a man dressed simply in a white dhoti and kurta. I was wearing a business suit, preparing for another international journey.
At first glance, we appeared to come from very different worlds. Within minutes, however, I realized I was sitting beside one of the world’s most remarkable humanitarians — Kailash Satyarthi, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and lifelong champion of children’s rights.
A Conversation That Went Beyond Introductions
Our conversation quickly moved beyond introductions.
Mr. Satyarthi spoke with humility, compassion, and unwavering conviction about his life’s mission: rescuing children from forced labor, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation.
He shared stories of young girls freed from sex trafficking and children liberated from factories, mines, and other forms of bonded labor.
Each story was heartbreaking, yet filled with hope because it represented a child who had been given a second chance at life.
